Egeria densa and Eichhornia crassipes are wildly known. They are primarily regarded as attractive and easy-care aquatic plants, or as so-called „invasive“ plants, that displace „native“ plants from their habitats around the world. 
In the complexity of interwoven crises, symptoms and causes are often confused. If a plant spreads quickly, it might not solely be because of its competitive advantage. Many ecosystems are already so fragmented and unstable that it is easy for new settlers to spread out and stay unhindered. In our capitalist ruins, this can also be a necessary aid to revive them.
